Lauren Latour

Lauren_Latour_.jpgLauren is a young climate activist living and working on the land of the Haudenosaunee Ojibway/Chippewa, Anishinabek peoples (London, Ontario). While attending university at Mount Allison, Lauren was a core organizer and founder of Divest MTA, in addition to campaigning against fracking in New Brunswick, and the Northern Gateway pipeline. In September 2014, she walked alongside her Divest MTA peers and 400,000 other climate activists in the People’s Climate March in New York City; the experience is one she credits with catalyzing her engagement in climate justice organizing.

Lauren was a member of the Canadian Youth Delegation to COP21 in Paris last year, an opportunity she considers invaluable, and one which has provided her with a set of skills she is eager to hone thorough working with her fellow CYD team members this year in Marrakech. In November at COP22, the Canadian government has plenty to prove, and many promises to keep- Lauren looks forward to organizing with the team to ensure our leadership understands that bold climate action must be taken, and leadership must be demonstrated.
